SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS & GROUPS
One of our favorite fall activities is hosting school field trips and groups. The school children’s joy in experiencing picking their own fruit or pumpkin and taking a wagon ride is a daily thrill for us, as is visiting with the senior’s as they reminisce about their days on the farm. It is a privilege to be able to share our farms and lifestyle with the tens of thousands who have visited us on tours over the years!
TWO Exciting SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS for 2009!
Apple Field Trips will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from
September 9 – September 25 and Monday and Tuesday from October 5 – 27 at Apple Annie’s Orchard (please see map for directions); the cost is $5/person, teachers and paid school staff are free. This is our traditional apples-only field trip with a lesson on seasons in the orchard, pollination, pest control, water-use and harvest, followed by a wagon ride to the orchard for apple picking. Each participant will take home ¼ peck of apples, an orchard coloring book and a free child’s pass to our corn maze. Picnic tables in our shaded orchard are available for your picnic lunch. Please allow 1 hour for the field trip and 30 minutes – 1 hour for lunch, restroom needs and shopping. Apple Annie’s Attic Gift Shop, Country Bakery and Fudge Kitchen are open during field trips.
Pumpkin & Corn Maze Field Trips will be offered Monday – Friday, September 28 –
October 30 at Apple Annie’s Produce & Pumpkins (please see map for directions); the cost is $7/person, teachers and paid school staff are free. We started this field trip in 2008 and it was a HUGE hit with students and teachers alike! Each field trip begins with a lesson on farming, pollination and harvest before heading out for the other activities. The maze design for 2009 is still a secret, but we can assure you that there will be plenty of educational value for your students. Within the school maze there are questions at given turns. Students must answer the question correctly to find their way out of the maze, and the correct answers come from the farming lesson at the beginning of the field trip! The maze is just part of the fun, as each class will also enjoy a hayride out to the pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins. Each student will choose their own pumpkin, selecting from the thousands in varying shapes and sizes in the pumpkin patch! Each participant will take home a pumpkin and a free child’s maze pass for a return visit to the maze. Shaded picnic tables and restrooms are available; please allow 1-1/2 hours for the field trip and 30 minutes – 1 hour for lunch, shopping and restroom needs. Apple Annie’s pies, apple bread and gourmet foods will be available for sale at the Produce Barn during the field trips; there is also a selection of gifts and toys for the children for purchase.

GROUP VISITS to APPLE ANNIE’S
SENIOR’S GROUPS, CHURCH GROUPS, AARP GROUPS, RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES and PARKS & RECREATION GROUPS …a day trip to Apple Annie’s is a perfect outing for you! Enjoy a stroll through our orchards and fields to pick-your-own produce, or enjoy selecting from our farm stands. Delight in our apple-smoked burger lunch, complete with homemade apple pie a la mode, for just $8.99 plus tax. Seating is in the shade of the peach orchard or on our covered patio. Apple-smoked burger lunches are offered for groups ranging in size from 15 – 100. Groups are scheduled EVERY Thursday and Friday from July 23 – September 25. Lunch is served at our orchard location, but be sure to allow time to also visit Apple Annie’s Produce & Pumpkins for a great variety of farm-fresh produce! SCOUTS and CHILDREN’s CHURCH GROUPSare welcomed on weekends. We are not able to offer the field trips on weekends, but there is plenty to see and do on your own! During the October Pumpkin Celebration we are able to offer GROUP hayrides to the pumpkin patch at 9:30 AM each Saturday and Sunday morning. Another excellent group activity is our Amazing Corn Maze, open weekends from September 27 – October 26. Call for group rates.
